Crockpot Applesauce

Someone at the office shared some apples with us this week and I was looking for a low maintenance and easy recipe. My mother-in-law recommended making applesauce last weekend when they brought apples so when I had a bit of time alone in the morning after working, I tossed the ingredients in in the crockpot to simmer away. Our middle kiddo especially enjoyed it.

Let’s Get Crafty!

Ingredients:
10 cups apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 cup water
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Toss all ingredients in the crockpot and cook on low for 6 hours stirring periodically.

I really liked it with just a little bit of texture, but you could easily blend it up to make it smooth.

Once simmered and cooked down there was around 3-4 cups. We had some with dinner and then froze some in a quart size bag.

For dinner the applesauce went with grilled ribs, corn on the cob and mac and cheese

Hope you have a nice Sunday. Thanks for stopping by.
