This was soooo good! My Mother-in-Law and Father-in-Law brought us some apples when they came for the weekend earlier this month. We peeled and sliced many of them to freeze for apple pies down the road and decided an after dinner treat was in order for the rest. A big thanks to my husband for a last minute run to the grocery store to grab vanilla ice cream that really took this to the next level!
This recipe comes from the Taste of Home fall magazine. We did things a little bit differently but if you are wanting the full original recipe it is the Aug/Sept 2024 issue that gives lots of love to apple season. ❤

Let’s Get Crafty!
Ingredients:
8 cups tart apples, peeled and sliced
1 cup white sugar, divided
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon, divided
2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cups brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1/2 cup butter, melted
Preheat oven to 350
Combine the apples, 3/4 cup white sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon to the dutch oven and gently stir.

In a large bowl whisk together the flour, the rest of the white sugar and cinnamon, brown sugar, baking powder and salt. After whisked together – add in the eggs and combine. The mixture will be lumpy and not really like a “dough”. Spoon over the apples in the dutch oven.

Evenly distribute the melted butter over the top.

Cover and bake until lighted browned. Ours took 45 mins.

Let sit for 10 minutes before serving.

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend.
