Restaurant Style Salsa

This is a spin on the salsa we had at a restaurant the other night. Quick and easy… barely any dishes. Win Win.

I forgot to take a picture of the salsa by itself, so here it is with the rest of the dinner for our middle kiddo. She went back for seconds and liked dipping her chicken quesadilla in it too.

Let’s Get Crafty!

Ingredients:
15oz can of fire roasted tomatoes
1/2 jalapeno pepper with the seeds removed, diced
1/4 cup yellow onion, diced
1 tablespoon of jarred garlic
3/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon oragano
1/2 teaspoon chili powder

Things to play with the flavors next time: diced green chiles, lime juice and cilantro.

You don’t have to do fire roasted tomatoes but they add more to the flavor than you might expect. We really liked it.

Mix everything together and add to a blender. Blend until the desired consistency.

I know ours is blended enough when I can’t see chunks of onion. Because you’re using a blender, you could probably get away with larger onion and jalapeno chunks when preparing them, but I don’t like to be surprised by big pieces of onion, so I start small from the get-go.

After blended, put the salsa in the fridge for around 30 mins to help chill the tomatoes and for the flavors to combine.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you are having a great day.
