My brother-in-law brought pie irons camping once and used them to make cherry pies over the campfire. As we were starting to think about a menu for our camping trip, I wanted to buy a set and give them a try.

Let’s Get Crafty!
Ingredients:
1 can grands biscuits
1 cup sliced ham, diced (or bacon or sausage…)
1 cup shredded cheese of your choice
5 eggs
1/2 teaspoon seasoning salt (see below for picture of what we used)
Butter (for coating the irons before filling)
Cut the biscuits into small pieces (about 8-10 pieces per biscuit.) We used kitchen scissors so it was a rough chop that wasn’t completely consistent and it worked well.
Whisk the eggs and then combine everything together well. I put 5 eggs in the recipe because we did 3 when we made it and the extra eggs will help add more moisture to the expanding biscuits.

Warm the irons over the fire grate and then coat both sides with butter.
Fill the iron and close. Cook over the fire about 8-10 minutes. Flip around the halfway mark.

Stay tuned for more camping fun. Thanks for stopping by. Hope you have a great day.
